This abstract results from a pedagogical experience involving primary school intern portuguese language university students. It aims to achieve a primary goal. We intend to discuss the relevance and influence of creativity as a tool in the way people communicate, work, grow socially, and understand others. We shall demonstrate how this can be done, engaging intern students and their answers and fostering their critical thinking. The methodology used for this experience was an inquiry. The inquired students were living a special moment in their academic lives, experiencing how hard being a primary teacher can be and the role of creativity before, during and after classes. The inquiry allowed students to think critically about their (creative) work as primary school interns, as well as their work and relationship with children. The results show that creativity can be matched not only to school work but also to different life aspets. The students also responded that language plays a crucial role as it is the vehicle which fosters communication bringing closer ideas, tasks, cultures and societies.
