A meta-analysis done by Kimmel and Rowe (2020) has concluded that the desire to seek revenge linked to grievances can be a primary motive for many acts of violence. The Non-Justice System intervention was created by James Kimmel Jr., J.D., with this in mind. With the assistance of CloudResearch, an online sampling platform, a study was conducted on this with participants who felt they had been wronged or treated unfairly or unjustly. Participants were placed in either the control or experimental group–the Non-Justice System intervention. It was hypothesized the intervention would elicit less revenge, avoidance, rumination, injustice, negative mood, stress, anxiety, and depressive symptoms and more benevolence, empathy, and positive mood in comparison to the control group. Results indicated significance for 9 out of the 11 variables. This study shows promise for further investigation and clinical application.
